When I’m not designing I’m on the hunt to find all the best chocolate desserts in the city!
Hey there! I’m Rafay. I’m a product designer based in New York. I'm an end-to-end designer who loves solving challenging problems. I enjoy in-depth user research to understand and connect with people. I get excited about brainstorming and prototyping beautiful experiences. Collaborating with other like-minded individuals to find creative solutions makes the process even more gratifying.
Prior to transitioning my career into UX, I was working at City College of New York (CCNY) as the lead Animator. I led a team of students through the process of animation to animate complex biological concepts that made learning simple and exciting for college students. In addition to being the lead animator, I worked as a digital scholarship services associate (DSS) at CCNY. As a DSS, I curated online exhibits, navigating users through a digital experience. Along with collaborating with professors to create user-centric course websites that prioritized ease of information architecture. My experience working at CCNY for clients has cultivated my skills to collaborate and communicate with a team. In addition, to managing and empathizing with clients to meet user goals/ expectations.
While at CCNY, I studied graphic design and animation. I learned core graphic design concepts such as typography, hierarchy, color, and space. Along with skills such as researching and sketching for storyboarding to create pleasant animated experiences.
I've now pivoted into UX design, a career that allows me to seamlessly incorporate all the skills that I have cultivated. Such skills include graphic design principles, problem-solving of graphic design, researching, brainstorming, sketching, collaboration, and communicating within a team environment. I look forward to continuing my work in an environment that allows me to grow and further develop my skills as well as being a valuable asset.
